Summary

I have been a 3D artist since I was a teenager, I started out by teaching myself Blender (back before it was open source). Those first few years I used the old blender community as a teaching tool, eventually becoming a contributor and teaching things I had learned over the years back to newer members!

I continued like that until I was first taught to use 3DS Max. Suddenly the world had gone from just vertex pushing to full faces and Edges.. I became fully competent within max, even if I am a little rusty, the basics are still there.
It was at this point I decided to take the plunge and join Escape studios, here I learned the ins and outs of Maya. I would say that from this point on I genuinely became a truly competent 3D artist. Which in turn lead to my first jobs in the industry.
I worked as a freelancer for a while and met with a fair degree of success, however when the economy collapsed I had to find myself a more stable income.

While I kept myself employed in one of those "Real jobs" people talk to much about I kept working at improving my skills, the list of mods I have worked on is massive, from total war games all the way up to full games built in the unreal engine, I've done it all. Then in 2013 I managed to organise a meeting with the head of VFX at sky TV. I asked for the opportunity to show him what i could do. within a week i had learned Softimage from scratch and was improving the badge designs for the premiership. Off the back of that I swung my first new freelance role for years, while working at sky I continued to impress and grow, teaching myself Zbrush, Mudbox and eventually substance tools. By the time I had left sky I had worked on internal advertising campaigns been recommended personally to a number of other companies, personally led presentation projects and worked on some of their biggest high profile projects.

Since then I have worked for The Motion Box, I worked there creating a set of 60 Crowd characters to fill out the stands of their football game that could have their body parts swapped out procedurally, forming the crowd at a football game with barely any noticeable repetition.

I then spent a lot of time working for FBFX, A company with an impressive list of clients (and a giant alien from john carter in their entrance) I worked for their digital team sculpting assets both for digital rendering and 3D printing. even creating an asset for the new Beauty and the beast live action film!

Currently I am working for a small indie games company by the name of Onami Helping them get their mobile game done in time for their Christmas deadline. For them I have become basically a jack of all trades, creating environments, textures characters and even VFX within unity.

This has been an amazing journey so far and I cant wait to see where it takes me next. My dream is to make games, its all I ever really wanted to do and all I really intend to do. I am a massively driven artist, driven purely by my desire to make great games and become the best artist I could possibly be. To me the tools of my art only make me better, if there is something I can learn that will make me better or more useful I am always excited to learn it. if you need someone that is happy to learn new skills then I am definitely your guy!
